The Dualers
The Dualers are a 9-piece Jamaican Rhythm & Blues band from South-East London, celebrated as Britain’s finest Ska & Reggae group. They first hit the charts with Kiss on the Lips reaching No.21, followed by Truly Madly, which featured in Hollywood blockbuster Fool’s Gold. Since then, they’ve achieved two Top 30 UK albums, have played prestigious venues such as Wembley Arena, Manchester Apollo and a record breaking 14 sold out shows at Indigo at the O2.
In 2026, The Dualers return with their highly anticipated new album Beach Life and a major UK tour, bringing their infectious energy and world-renowned live show to Bristol. Expect an unforgettable night of ska, reggae, and irresistible rhythm & blues.
Death Cab For Cutie
Death Cab for Cutie bring their iconic indie sound to The Prospect Building on 23rd September for a special headline show in the Main Room.
Death Cab for Cutie's 11th studio album, I Built You A Tower, marks the band’s return to their independent roots. Produced and engineered by John Congleton and assembled from a mere three weeks of sessions, the album was recorded at Animal Rites in Los Angeles, as well as the band members’ homes in Seattle, Bellingham, Los Angeles and Portland. The album's first single, “Riptides”, is the band's 9th #1 at Adult Alternative radio.
In recent years, the band celebrated several historic milestones, including massive sold-out tours celebrating the 20th anniversaries of seminal releases Transatlanticism and Plans. Those tours were pivotal to the creation of I Built You A Tower, as behind the scenes, Ben Gibbard weathered the greatest pressure of his professional life — fronting both Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service on arena stages for hours a night — while struggling with the collapse of his personal life in the background. The strain felt too much for one person to bear, and the “tower” originated as a way to protect himself. “There’s this need to find a place in ourselves to put loss and grief,” he explains. “A place that can hold it so we can move on with our lives. But there are these moments where the trauma breaks out of that shell we created for it.”
I Built You A Tower is an album of reconciling with past selves in order to locate a new future. “The anniversary tours exorcised any nostalgia in our systems,” Dave Depper observes. “We felt part of this powerful force greater than all of us and went into the studio with a sense of, how can we capture that feeling and put it into something new?” Harmer continues, “The whole experience of this record got us back to the earliest versions of this band: If the musicians in the room like what we’re working on, that’s enough. We reconnected with the confidence that comes with that.” As such, this is not the dreaded “return to form” narrative, but a reclamation of a core ethos that has run through Death Cab for Cutie’s 30-year history.
Encounters pres. Underscore 003: Sirât Live
Kangding Ray takes the techno score of Sirât and builds something new from it, pushing far past the soundtrack into its own live work. The film's director Óliver Laxe presents mesmerising, unseen footage shot on set. This isn't a live score, it's the world of the film pulled apart and rebuilt for one night only.
That world is Sirât: Óliver Laxe's desert odyssey, soundsystem and rave culture at its core. Laxe describes it as a jump into the abyss, a celebration of the end. Raw, visceral and heart-pounding.
All in the presence of director Óliver Laxe, who also joins us elsewhere at the festival to share his experiences of making the film. Sirât won the Jury Prize at Cannes and went on to two Oscar nominations. Kangding Ray's score won the Cannes Soundtrack Award and a Goya.
